  • Checking insurance to see where surgery will need to be done at.
  • Determining whether patients will need pre operative labs, med clr, ekg, and any other clr needed if any prior to surgery.
  • Providing the pt with a surgery packet specific to the facility they are having surgery at with all of their surgery info written in there.
  • Making sure pt has all pre op stuff completed prior to their surgery.
  • Making sure pt's have their DME prior to surgery specific to their surgery and the surgeon. Also to make them aware they need to bring it with them day of surgery.
  • Making sure all OPPT referrals are sent to our PT dept with correct protocol, start time, type of surgery, and location of surgery specific to the surgeon.
  • Making sure all total knees and hips scheduled for surgery at the hospital has a referral sent to our OAM in home PT. If outside of their radius then we, the surgery schedulers will look for in home pt close to the pt that will take their insurance and send that referral.
  • Collect Staph Screening Specimens for total joints pts prior to surgery and sending them to Metro to be tested.
  • Calling in prescriptions for pts
  • Requesting imaging and reports prior to surgery.
  • Scheduling Iovera injection appts for total knee patients prior to surgery, sending out info to pt, checking insurance, and making sure provider has documentation in chart for Iovera injection.
  • Requesting equipment from different reps specific to the surgery and surgeon.
  • Able to schedule patients for surgery in person or on the phone.
  • Able to schedule up to 15-20 surgeries a day.
  • Rooming patients and taking vitals
  • Drawing up injections and making sure they documented in patients chart.
  • Sees two week post op patients, takes out staples, stitches, sutures, or takes of steri strips. Assesses incision sites. Updates restrictions if needed. Sends provider requests for pain medication if needed.

  • Preps providers charts and makes sure that all appropriate imaging has been ordered, done, and imaging reports have been scanned into patient's chart.
  • Draws blood needed for Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections that are given to our patients.
