Gone under vigorous training and for inpatient and ICU care. I also performed blood sampling, arterial blood gas analysis, CPR and cardiac defibrillation aided under a medicine resident.
I managed Outpatient department in medicine during it’s term including, elaborating on the patient’s chief complaints, his/her past history and providing medical intervention for the same. Also indicating the need for ECG or radiography.
In the inpatient department I prepared patient notes on their line of treatment and the progress in health everyday, also kept a constant check on the medical vital parameters.
I had first hand experience for treating patients in the emergency department of medicine, surgery and respiratory medicine. I kept a record of patients throughout the day and advised on discharge or admission.
Was priviledged to learn to perform surgical skills like suturing, chest tube placement and wound debridment.
During the term on Obstetrics and gynecology I learned management of ectopic pregnancy, premature rupture of membranes as well as abruptio placentae, I also assisted in normal and emergency cesarean deliveries. We also made sure to keep a timely check of the fetal heart rate and maternal vital signs after the patient was admitted.
Our batch of interns took part in the adverse drug reaction seminar and we also reported a handful of cases of adverse drug reaction to the pharmacology department of our college.
I was fortunate to have made good connections with the staff, residents and my co-interns. During the month of february 2024 I also assisted in planning a seminar for the Department of ENT (surgery through the mastoid) for ENT residents all over Gujarat, India.
