Tax Examiner
The Department of the Treasurer
01.2008 - Current
As a Rejects Tax Examiner, I analyze, correct, and communicate various tax issues
To resolve those issues, I communicate with both internal customers (TAS Advocates, Unpostables Lead Tax Examiners, and Managers) and external customers (Taxpayers) by PROVIDING ADVICE AND PREPARING REPORT NARRATIVES AND BASIC INSTRUCTIONS
As a result of my effective communication skills, I have received many praises for providing TAS Advocates (TA) with timely detailed information regarding their request; closing cases before deadlines; communicating with them when problems occur and they are out of my scope of correction; and encouraging and inspiring them to achieve excellence in all they do
For example, in addition to my other duties as a TE, TAS OARs are a priority and must be completed before the requested deadline
During our weekly briefing, the Rejects Work Leader communicates to my team several issues concerning effective communication between TEs and TAs
I continue to receive EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION recognition for TAS reports
I am asked to share my skills with the team: I shared the templates I created to maximize my time responding to TAs requests through their TAS OARs
Using these templates reduces time spent responding to TAS OARs by 30%, allowing me more research time on cases
This allows me to provide TAs with more details about a particular case while welcoming and answering questions
I have experience in assisting taxpayers in technical and procedural tax cases covering the full range of cases and issues while concentrating on those with the most complicated or specialized factors
I take corrective action within ERS-Rejects statutory and delegated authorities, including responding timely to recommended deadlines
I confer with the taxpayer, via written Tax Payer Notices, who has experienced systemic issues, and tax application errors
I educate taxpayers and their representatives regarding tax obligations, responsibilities, rights, and options, including possible adverse consequences of decisions

Work Leader
The Department of the Treasurer
02.2022 - 07.2022
Day and night Work Leaders had a communication gap
To transition smoothly from SKYPE to MS TEAMS, I spent seven (7) hours learning the software through online courses
I converted the information into a curriculum format and delivered it to the ERS/REJECTS Work Leaders and managers
I created a Work Leader and Manager Team Group Chat to keep the history of our chats
The communication gap between the day and night shifts decreased, because of the implementation of the MS TEAMS Group Chat
This sparked other departments to do the same for their day and night shifts
This significantly reduced confusion within the employee ranks and enabled the Service to continue functioning with minimal impact on the level of service
Coordinate daily with managers, other work leaders, or any other appropriate personnel to ensure that work is correctly prioritized and assigned in a manner that will keep employees productive
Assign work appropriate to each employee’s level of experience and skill
Monitor workload status and keep the manager and employees apprised as appropriate
Approachable and accessible for employees
Answer employee questions and provide feedback, OJT, and classroom training as needed
Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the assigned workload
Demonstrated general knowledge of organizational functions, terminology, quality assurance techniques, and reporting requirements to coordinate workflow and resolve related problems
I collaborate with the manager to improve organizational efficiency and increase employee satisfaction
Resolve simple, informal employee complaints or concerns and will refer others to the manager
Encourage all employees to become part of the 'team' working toward a common goal and whenever possible, led by example
Have a positive, 'can do' attitude and show enthusiasm for the job and our mission
Make suggestions concerning personnel actions and recognition of outstanding employee performance
Report to the manager on employee performance, progress, and training needs
Know administrative policies, procedures, and functions to provide support to the manager or to perform administrative duties when acting for the manager
If serious or complex matters arise in the manager’s absence, the work leader is expected to contact another manager or other appropriate person in the management chain
Assist the manager in providing a workplace free from discrimination, hostility, and harassment
