In the role of an executive officer, I was able to bring the hospital into CMS compliance with zero deficiency. As the Director of Risk Management, was responsible for timely and appropriate review, coordinations of risk management and implementing strategies to reduce risk.
A new Unit that was developed under my leadership. Ongoing monitoring and data collection and analysis, related to the barriers in meeting early discharge needs, led to the success of this Unit. The time from when the order to discharge was written, to the time patient discharged, was averaging to four hours in the absence of Discharge Education Unit. Under my leadership, DEU averaged the time to less than one hour. This was a huge patient and Medical staff satisfier and productive for the organization.
Ongoing physician review responsibilities as it relates to identifying high risk cases and day to day risk mitigation. Routinely assessing and evaluating the overall patient care within the facility (inpatient and outpatient) as it relates to risk management and diligently enforcing high standards.
Responsible for ER, ICU, PCU, OB, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, OR, PACU, GI, OPS, Med/Sx, Telemetry, Oncology, and all ancillary departments. Expertly plan, coordinate, organize, and direct all operations of the agency. Ensured all departments were adequately staffed with appropriate level of nursing skill/competency. Critical decision making in high stress situations was an ongoing aspect of the position.
