The results of the deer counts were not different to any significance to deer counts by one amateur on their own or counts done by one expert on their own. So, a professor can use the deer density information obtained through a class project and obtain reliable data for DNR. This makes for the ability to collect larger amounts of data for a better picture of the population density in Kennesaw Mountain and strategies DNR should implement.
  • Research: Water Quality Survey of Georgia Streams using Fish Species Identification and Counts.

  • Research: "Limiting Nutrients of the Duplin River: Effects of Dumping Deer Carcasses into the effluents in the Estuary." The goal for this study was to determine if the increased nutrient load from illegal dumping by hunters into the effluents of the Estuary significantly effect the main body of the Duplin River (Estuary). There was a larger concentration of nitrogen in the effluents sampled closer to the main land then the effluents on the outer side of the river. Blooms of algae could be observed in the effluents with higher nitrogen concentration showing possible warning signs of eutrophication in these parts of the estuary. Where the effluents sampled met up with the main body of the Duplin River, we observed the separation in nutrient concentrations with an area of possible mixing in the middle. The further upstream the less effected the river was by the illegal dumping.
