Summary

Machinist that has a robust skillset. Started my machining carreer in sinker EDM, gained some wire EDM expereince too along the way . I have ran mills ranging from 25-30 feet long to something as small as a Hass VF1. Ran CMM, and Faro arms to inspect my own parts. I can program and run parts from start to finish.

Work History

Machinist

Electric Motor & Contracting Co. Inc.
10.2022 - Current
  • Inspected completed parts to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Utilized micrometers and calipers to measure and verify precise tolerances.
  • Operated drill presses, lathes and milling machines to produce required parts.
  • Manually set up machinery, lathes, and grinders.
  • Primarily ran Mazak Slant Turn Nexus 550
  • Manufacture parts for electric motors , such as whole shafts (up to 15ft) with bearing tolerances <.0005” with total runout less then .001”
  • Setup , from start to finish as well as program the entire part from start to finish using either Mazatrol on the machine interface or GibsCam 2023.
  • Nuclear radiation certified in accordance safety regulations. For the parts we work for power plants.

Machinist

Eagle Technology LLC.
02.2022 - Current
  • Obtained blueprints and support materials from suppliers and engineers.
  • Adjusted machines to increase productivity for runs.
  • Completed projects on time and under budget and maintained equipment and tools.
  • Interpreted drawings and planed work in proper operational sequence on multi-cut jobs.
  • Here i did alot of aerospace parts with precision tolerances of +.0006"/-0.000
  • Machined many molds for various carbon fusulage panels for aircraft.
  • While working here one of the programmers left the company and i have stepped up to start programming the Haas ST30Y lathe with mastercam 2022 ,to take some pressure off of the other programmer.
  • Programmed and ran Haas vf11,vf11 with 5th axis trunion installed,vf2,vf3,vf4 ,EC1600 while working here.

Machinist

Craft Machine Works
01.2019 - 02.2022
  • Worked small shipyard parts on Bridgeport/track machine holding close tolerances like +001/-0
  • Ran a haas vf4 where I was responsible for setting up the part designing fixtures for them by interpreting blueprints
  • Some of the responsibilities included keeping work area clean and organized as well as machine clean, tooling up machine , hand editing portions of programs to suit setup better
  • Ran a large manual horizontal mill for a few months doing large ship parts, table over 25’ long with a height of close to 20’
  • I did rails for the catapult system for air craft carriers as well as various large destroyer parts
  • Ran a 5 axis mazak mill/turn (VTL) where I’m programming , setting up , machining and inspecting submarine hatches as well as various other naval yard parts, ,other responsibilities included but not limited to selecting all tooling for the job and picking up the machine and potentially hand editing portions of programs to accommodate the job better and making sure to meet surface finish requirements
  • While working there i acquired my own personal laptop I start writing my own programs and begun getting deeper into mastercam design and CNC programming , I now use mastercam in my general free time trying to further my capabilities as well as source as much free online training classes via YouTube , mastercam.com or really anywhere I can gain exposure.
  • Studied daily work instruction, sketches, drawings, blueprints and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances accurately.
  • Ran heavy duty lathes, boring machines, mills, and grinders to craft products.
  • Assembled and set various boring, slotting and turning heads.

EDM Machinist

H&W Tool Co, 300 Commerce
01.2015 - 01.2019
  • Stared off with sinker EDM where the responsibilities included setting up and running jobs from start to finish including squaring up fixtures, reading the blueprints picking up the job in the machine , followed by a quality check done by myself on a CMM, FARO ARM, or blue light inspection to assure precision machining
  • I was responsible for developing processes for new jobs , as well as writing all EDM programs on Agie, CHMER, and ACUTE X sinker machines
  • After learning sinker I started doing wire EDM working with a Mitsubishi wire I performed precision wire fillets of turbine blades for internal inspections. I would write my own programs for these jobs aswell
  • Moved onto CNC where I have ran production CNC as well as jobs-shop machining using HAAS and Mitsubishi machines.
  • I have set up and ran production parts as well as parts for core reformers and other die related jobs
  • Proficient in understanding coordinate systems and how g code operates, I have done program editing on the fly as well as some beginner level programming using Mastercam 2017
  • I was responsible for tooling up my own machine, and picking up all jobs with using blueprint specifications
  • Manual knee mill
  • I have about a years worth of Bridgeport experience , I use blueprints provided to build fixtures for the parts we run
  • This is where I learned most of my speeds and feeds , and I believe that helps with programming the CNC
  • Mostly working with 7075 aluminum but also have worked stainless , some d2 and other more soft aluminum’s
  • Here I learned how to use micrometers , calipers , sin bar, and most other hand held shop tools
  • Later in my career here after grasping a better understanding of the turbine blades as well as general machining practice I started to communicate with the engineers to collaborate better processes to improve speed as well as accuracy for an over all better turnout for the product
  • This included fixture design and modifications as well as electrode design modifications for the EDM machines.
  • Here I learned how to work from multiple datum references because most of the jobs were 3D contours
  • Around the end of 2018 I started to take interest in learning mastercam so that I could start writing my own programs.
