My Name is Dylan Lucas, I am 19 years old, I have a positive work ethic compared to most, I am happy to work in dirty places, personally I prefer to work with people I get along with as it helps with my mental health
I'm interested in cars, bikes and most things mechanical as I want to find out how things work and how parts interact with other parts.
While working at Grove interiors I was entrusted to disassemble and repair furniture using hand and power tools as well as cleaning chemicals, dyes and paints.
This first job gave me better social skills as I had to interact with customers most days, as well as improving my time management skills by deciding which job needs doing first and what can wait, furthermore it has helped with my organising skills as we had to fit a range of furniture into our van to do deliveries.
While working at Kronospan
The apprenticeship was 4 years long consisting of both theory based learning as well as hands on learning.
In my first year it was primarily theory based learning to achieve both my Level 2 NVQ course and my Level 3 BTEC course.
In my second year I was working in the factory using hand tools and learning how to do basic maintenance and how the machines are run by shadowing a qualified fitter, further more I also began to start improving my team work skills as we were primarily working on large pieces of machinery requiring more than 1 person.
In my 3 and 4 years I was primarily learning how to do more complicated jobs as well as welding and a small amount of turning on a lathe as well as being trusted enough to do the basic maintenance jobs without supervision.
However I did not finish this apprenticeship due to personal reasons
I am licensed to operate class 3a (mobile vertical) and 3b (mobile boom) vehicles.
