  • My education and training in this career are just getting started, and I’m fortunate to be learning under the guidance of Greg Avalos, who also happens to be my father-in-law. For the past month, I’ve been gaining hands-on experience, learning the ins and outs of the process, while also sharing my knowledge with others. Though it's been both fun and rewarding, it’s currently a part-time role, which gives me the flexibility to choose when and where I work.
  • Applied waterproof coatings to ensure long-term protection from water damage.
  • Sealed exposed nails with caulking or sealant after completing work on each section of the roof.
  • Cleaned up debris from job sites daily upon completion of each project.
  • Communicated regularly with clients about progress updates throughout the duration of each project.

  • At 16, I was eager to make some money, so I decided to start my own car detailing business. I invested all of my savings into buying a trailer and stocking up on supplies. With no connections and limited resources, I took a bold approach—cold calling small businesses, car dealerships, and anyone else I could think of to pitch my services. To my surprise, it actually worked. From there, I grew my business from the ground up, turning a small side hustle into a steady source of income. Along the way, I learned valuable skills—how to sell effectively, deliver exceptional customer service, and, most importantly, develop patience.

  • Maintained inventory of detailing supplies, ordered new materials when needed, and disposed of hazardous waste in accordance with safety regulations.

  • I worked at Greenscape’s for just over four months, and while the job ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me, it taught me some invaluable lessons. As a crew leader, I learned the importance of teamwork and clear communication. We had to coordinate effectively to ensure we completed our mowing tasks as efficiently as possible—often in sweltering 100-degree weather. Despite the tough conditions, maintaining a positive attitude and fostering a sense of camaraderie within the team were key to getting the job done well and making the best of the situation.
