- I was assigned to Rescue 7 as a structurally certified Emt Basic for Approximately 5 and 1/2 years. Rescue 7 is staffed with an EMT-B and EMT-P which made R7 operate at the MICU level. Rescue 7's high call volume provided tremendous experience in both medical and fire emergencies. That coupled with the experience of “swinging” to different stations throughout my career on both structure and rescue units gave me confidence and knowledge to respond to other emergencies that have and will occur in the future. Currently, I am a Fire Suppression Technician assigned to Quint 7 "C" shift. Covering Five points territory, responding to medical emergencies, fire emergencies and everything in-between. I promoted in January of 2023. I have operated at many emergencies medical and fire operating as the officer in charge and in the driver seat. My experiences thus far have given me a foundation to the rest of my career with the City of El Paso as well as any medical emergencies I would encounter with UMS.

- After graduating high school while going to college to acquire my certifications for Basic Structural Firefighter and Emt-B I obtained a job at U-haul as a Customer Service representative for approximately one year and moved on to the repair side of the company as a detail specialist. And later became a trailer mechanic until beginning the academy for El Paso Fire Department. The Customer service portion taught me public relations. How to deal with people on their good and bad days. Which I believe has helped me as a public servant. Working as a detail specialist has helped me with ensuring the rigs are cleaned correctly not only for the public's eye but for maintenance reasons as well. Working as a mechanic taught me basic mechanic skills that transitioned into my current profession. I.e Minor maintenance on the rigs during equipment checks. Moving bariatric patients by other means besides muscle. Dash board indicators. Tire changes etc. Working for uhaul has taught me a wide variety of skills that transition into day to day occurrences both on and off the job.
