Troy Hough

Family: I married my wife Stephanie on June 20, 2015. Stephanie and I met at church where we both became a part of the same small group. She is currently a Registered Nurse with Duke University Hospitalʼs NICU. Stephanie and I have served together as small group leaders for a college aged group, volunteering for the First Impressions ministry, and we have served together in the church nursery. We adopted our son Levi in 2017 and have been with him since he was 3 days old. Our daughter Meredith was born in 2021. Together we desire to build on the values taught to us from the Bible and the local church so that as a family we can serve the church and our community.

Salvation: When I was 6 years old, my family started attending a local church with my dadʼs parents. Neither my parents nor I were a Christian, but my dad saw value in the moral teachings of the church. Over the course of the next year all of us were saved. Through the years I grew into understanding what salvation meant. I served in the local church in whatever capacity I was able to and received the call to pursue full-time ministry in college. This led me to attend Southeastern Seminary, where God continued to teach me to pursue this calling.

Personal Mission:

Love God and abide in Him daily as He leads me through life.

Love People and meet them where they are in life.

Reach the Lost with the Gospel.

Make Disciples and teach them to follow God, grow in their relationship with Him, grasp the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and lead them to make more disciples.

Redemption Church: 2022-present

• Volunteer with the newly formed youth group through leading and co-leading a weekly Bible study and chaperoning missional outreach to the community.
• Participating in a Preaching Lab with lead pastor and others to improve preaching and teaching skills.
• Volunteer to operate screens for Sunday morning services as needed.

Open Door Baptist Church: 2013-2021

• Mentored by Childrenʼs Pastor and Elders to execute pastoral duties as a pastoral intern. 
• Faithfully served in Childrenʼs, First Impressions, and AV ministries.
• Led a college small group.

Second Baptist Church:2003-2013

• Mentored by church staff to learn how to execute pastoral duties as a pastoral intern.
• Wrote and taught lessons for over 50 youth.
• Planned and implemented both mission and activity trips for the youth.
• Filled the pulpit for Sunday services and special services.
• Discipled students for personal and ministry growth.
• Ordained 7/14/19

Sand Hill Baptist Church: 2012-2013

• Served as the youth director.
• Taught high school and middle school Sunday school. 
• Planned, organized, and executed trips for the youth. 
• Preached at local high schoolʼs Christian group.

New Testament Christian Church: 2011-2013

• Filled the pulpit for Sunday services and special services.

Mission Trips:

• 8 days in Japan 2011
• 7 days in Long Beach, CA 2013
