As a Nursing Assistant, some of my job responsibilities were...

• Assisting with feeding and monitoring resident's to ensure safety and that nutritional needs were being met.
• Checking resident vitals such as temperature, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure.
• Documenting resident care in reports and on written logs.
• Answering call lights and ensuring resident care and comfort were being properly maintained.
• Fully or partially assisting residents with hygiene and grooming needs. (Hair care, bathing/showering, perineal care, shaving, brushing teeth, etc.)
• Reporting unusual or urgent circumstances in residents' condition or environment immediately to nurse supervisor and/or present charge nurse.
• Assisting residents with walking and dressing.
• Obtaining specimens for ordered tests and prepared for laboratory transport, such as urine samples.
• Administering and distributing medications to residents, which I am certified to do.
• Changing, cleaning, and repositioning bedbound/incontinent residents.
• Observing or examining residents to detect signs or symptoms that required medical attention such as bruises or open wounds.
• Using devices, such as the hoyer and sit-to-stand lifts, to transfer residents.
• Providing basic housekeeping tasks, such as making beds and doing resident laundry.

• Assisted patients with getting dressed
• Assisted patients with eating.
• Measured and recorded vitals such as pulse, temperature, and blood pressure.
• Changed soiled patients and assisted patients to the restroom.
• Assisted with the maintenance of basic hygienic needs of patients, such as providing bed baths and brushing teeth.
• Monitored, tracked and conveyed important patient information to healthcare staff to help optimize treatment planning and care delivery.
• Assisted with patient transfers and ambulation.
• Followed safe lifting techniques and individual resident lifting instructions.
• Used wheelchairs and gait belts to assist with patient ambulation in room, hallways and bathroom.
