  • Work with both Union and nonunion employees to create a well-designed safety program. Total number of employees to monitor was as high as 300 at times
  • Develop, draft new and review existing policies, co-ordinate and administer a Safe Workplace Program and Safety Management System.
  • Implement and maintain effective hazard identification and incident investigation procedures for all accidents and dangerous occurrences ensuring proper documentation and reinforcement to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Conduct inspections and perform audits of work sites and workplaces in conjunction with Occupational Health & Safety Committees to ensure compliance with Provincial regulations.
  • Initiate corrective action and recommend corrective actions process for incidents.
  • Identify and assess training needs related to safe work procedures. Co-ordinate and/or deliver such training as needed.
  • Function as the City’s primary contact with the Workers Compensation Board and prepare, give, and perform all follow-up activities related to the claims and Return to Work program.
  • Establish and support that the City is compliant with Occupational Health Committees and function as the advisor on such committees.
  • Recommend proper emergency measures planning which describe the purpose and intent and incorporate the structure of control in cooperation with the Fire Chief.
  • Coordinate various departments, agencies, and stakeholders of the community in the development and updating of the plan and ensure the Municipal Emergency Plan is always current and up to date.
  • Facilitate mock exercises. Evaluate and measure effectiveness of the exercises.
