The development of a 3D bioprinted structure represents a significant advancement in this field of research, offering more precise outcomes compared to existing cellular models. This enhancement is attributed to its superior mimicry of the tumor microenvironment. Moreover, incorporating tumor vasculature into these structures enables the evaluation of synergistic approaches combining SFRT and Immunotherapy, potentially offering new avenues for the treatment of large, deep-seated tumors.
- Future Research Direction: Ongoing efforts are focused on advancing from a fundamental model towards a more intricate and sophisticated one. This progression involves the integration of tumor vasculature within the printed 3D structure, aiming to more accurately replicate a three-dimensional Tumor Micro-Environment (TME), thereby enhancing the realism and applicability of the model in simulating complex biological systems.
