COMMUNICATION

As a school counselor, I have many roles that I play each and every day. First and foremost, I ensure that every student has met their social and emotional needs. If these needs are not met, students will have difficulty being successful in school. Next, I am an advocate for my students. I check their grades regularly to ensure that they are passing. I then speak with their teachers to ensure that they have the tools to be successful. Finally, I contact parents if I have concerns about the student. I want to make sure that they can be successful. I also have the task of conducting 504 meetings. Preparation takes place months before the meeting. I need to gather current data about the students so that their 504 has the latest data.
