Performed deckhand duties onboard ocean going tugboat for two week rotation which includes cleaning several times during a 12 hour watch period, preparing three meals a day, and assisting the captain, mate, and engineer as needed.


Assisted in the preparation of securing towing wire, pushgear, and mooring of a 200 feet long container barge from Norfolk International Terminal to Richmond Marine Terminal twice a week.


Performed basic corrosion control on tugboat which includes grinding, chipping paint, applying Safeguard Marine paint on handrails, bulkheads, and weatherdeck as required.


Conducted daily engine room safety and fire prevention rounds every hour, and wrote down caterpillar engine 35-12E Tier 4, 3000 HP gauge readings every three hours while underway.


Provided assistance to the mate of the watch with safe operation and navigation of vessel, and lookout duties everyday while underway for 12 hours a day as backwatch deckhand.


Completed safety checks for life ring equipment onboard the tugboat as required via SBA company website maintenance schedule, received supplies, and updated inventory of stores and cleaning supplies as ordered.
