During my clerkship with Dr. Chane I very quickly became an active part of the team by taking initiative and being autonomous in seeing patients by myself, working out a thorough workup and treatment plan and presenting numerous patients to Dr. Chane everyday. I was easily able to quickly adapt to the high patient flow and workload and I feel safe in using EPIC and Cerner EMR. Besides, I have acquired valuable experience in interpreting cardiac nuclear scans.
During this rotation, I obtained valuable insights into inpatient medicine in the United States by going to many different hospitals as well as skilled nursing facilities. I was actively involved in patient care by giving suggestions about the next steps of management and treatment. Apart from this, I strengthened my skills in history taking, clinical examination, and working with EMR software.
I gained experience taking histories of patients, clinical examination and case presentations. Furthermore I learned about the administrative work and software required in the US healthcare system.
I gained knowledge and skills in basic medical procedures such as blood drawing and venous cannulation. Furthermore, I learned about team work by working in a team of physicians and nurses.
I acquired skills in communicating with patients as well as administrative work in a doctor's office. Apart from that, I learned about screening methods and preventive care.
