In May 2019, I began conducting interviews with families to find a suitable volunteer mentor who can work with the children referred from external organizations that came from resources and networking opportunities in the Greater Lowell community. I was able to use judgment, education, and experience while screening and interviewing volunteers who could become possible mentors, which is crucial for a volunteer mentoring program. This is even more consequential when working with volunteers and those possible children who are referred from local trauma and mental health communities and organizations.
