I have been a successful operating partner for the sonic drive-in located in Elizabeth city North Carolina for almost 20 years. As the operator of the restaurant, we are responsible for everything from hiring to P&L’s to budgets. LSM, HR, scheduling. I had over 60 employees when I left in January to seek an opportunity for a company that could take me to the next level. I was blocked from moving up as we had the same multi unit leaders for over 15 years. My first full year with the company my team and I won turn around operator of the year and followed that up with the operator of the year of a franchise that had over 250 Sonics the following year. The restaurant was also doing almost $4 million in sales and well over 1000 tickets a day. Every year my team and I were always in the top three in the franchise in profit percent. I’m great at training and building a team and running food cost and labor, as well as controlling my repairs and maintenance. I know how to make money that’s for sure. 1 year my adjusted profit was over a million dollars. I was a certified National Sonic training store as well from corporate. In 2017, I was named the national operator of the year in the Sonic system of over 4000 restaurants. Again, I couldn't have done it without my team. after a 3 year grind from Covid I retired for almost a year to catch up on spending time with my son and traveling. After 20 years you tend to need a break, especially after Covid.
I got bored and I started at Pizza Hut to become an area supervisor in the Chesapeake market. After 3 weeks I already had the concept down and running shifts. They threw me into a store on limited hours and minimal employees. After 3 more weeks at the Great Bridge location, I had built a whole new staff and we were back on full time hours and already trained my replacement. They promised growth but that was far from true.
There’s not much I can’t do including fixing restaurant equipment. If you’re looking for somebody that profited over 20% bottom line 20 years in a row and promoted over 30 partners within that time span, then I’m your guy. I can provide references, supervisors and directors of the East Coast that can say the same thing.
I did find an opportunity last January to be a supervisor for Sonic in tidewater market. We just followed up our first year of 25% up in sales as an area. I finally found my dream job but with very few Sonics there’s not much more growth from here. In the process of selling my home so I can move closer, but I’ve been doing the commute for 3 years now
I have in the last year, applied for full service scale restaurants but they said I didn't have the experience. Therefore I went full scale with the Dirty Buffalo team to learn the bar and front of the house systems to further my knowledge in the restaurant business.
I ran into an old business partner at the Popeye's and she sold me on an opportunity. After another 3 weeks of training I was thrown in the fire again and not allowed to hire anyone nor do the schedule. If I am the one running the store, I want to build my team, but I felt handcuffed and micromanaged. I've recently left that company and looking for a new opportunity to help a franchise grow as well as myself.
Thank you for your time.
