My name is Ted Rausch. I have been a music teacher and the band director at Portsmouth High School since 1999. My duties have included, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band. In addition to the performance ensembles I also teach, History of Rock and Roll, Music Production and Engineering - Levels 1, 2, and 3.
I have also taught Guitar, Piano, and AP Music Theory, as I am a certified AP Instructor for AP Music Theory.
In addition to my Portsmouth High School duties, I am also an Adjunct faculty member at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. My teaching duties there include, Woodwind Methods, Instrumental Methods, and assisting in coordinating student teachers.

2013 - Rhode Island Representative for the 2013 Inaugural Parade for Barack Obama As the director, the Portsmouth High School Marching Band was chosen and participated in the 2013 Inaugural Parade for President Barack Obama in Washington DC.
2013 - Recipient of the Golden Apple Award from NBC 10 & HASBRO
2013 NEASC Visiting Team Committee Member
Served on an evaluating committee for NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges) for the Bristol Eastern High School, Bristol, Connecticut.
2012 - Rhode Island Representative for Top 50 Band Director's That Make A Difference
This was sponsored by the magazine, SBO (School, Band & Orchestra). This is a nationally distributed magazine that is published once a month. Each year they publish a special edition which contains the top 50 band director's in the country, one from each state.
2008 - 2012 - Chair Person of Faculty Staff Advisory Committee
This committee worked on school related issues with faculty. Goal of the committee is to ensure a proper and fair work environment for faculty. Duties consisted of meeting monthly with the committee as well as meeting with the building principal
AP Music Theory Certification - 2012
AP Music Summer Institute at Ryder University
Enrolled in the AP Summer Institute for certification in teaching AP Music Theory. This was in preparation for teaching the new AP Music Theory class that Portsmouth High School introduced in the 2012-2013 school year.
