During the latter part of this tour, I performed the duties of an Automated Logistics Specialist (92A), utilizing supply regulations, policies, and the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) to perform a wide variety of complex assignments related to maintaining specialized property accounts and records, completing individual transactions, providing customer assistance, screening reference files, conducting data searches, and distributing output files. Utilize GCSS-Army to research, prepare, and maintain standard and nonstandard equipment listings, and the preparation of hand receipt-related correspondence. Updates databases to reflect specialized or reconstructed information. Conducts extensive and exhaustive database searches to retrieve and use data in response to various questions or problems, and to resolve data discrepancies. Arranges for the issue, transfer, or turn-in of equipment or property, as appropriate. Conducts extensive and exhaustive searches for information, and extracts and assembles data from files and other records. Selects the best sources from which to obtain information. Compiles statistical, status, and other supply information. Compiles special reports in response to customer requests. Reconstructs records in support of complex transactions. Perform duties as the fuel distribution system operator, off-loading Mobility Gasoline (MOGAS) and Diesel #2 (DS#2) fuels from commercial tanker trucks to bulk storage tanks. Gauges storage tanks each morning, after each bulk issue/receipt, and before and after each transfer. Uses a gauging rule, paste, and thermometer. Records and reports, measurement, and temperature readings. Receives and processes incoming bulk shipments. Verifies the item against receipt documents to ensure that the proper item is being received, filled out correctly, with the proper description, stock number, and quantity. Report damages, shortages, and overages in shipments to the supervisor immediately upon detection. Ensures all vehicles are properly grounded, ensures fire extinguishers are in place, and that other required safety precautions have been taken prior to executing off-loading procedures. Selects the correct storage tank that connects the tank truck to the fill line by means of a hose. Collects fuel samples, records, and reports test results. Records the amount of fuel received for 100% accountability. Ensures the proper preparation and safeguarding of accountable records IAW AR 710-2, to include the Monthly Bulk Petroleum Accounting Summary (MBPAS), using various computer programs, databases, and gaging systems to compile the needed reports on a monthly basis. Establishes or determines storage locations, moves items to locations, and performs inventories as prescribed or required. Performs the loading of fuel from storage tanks to heavy mobile equipment, light mobile equipment, and track vehicles. Inspects the truck to be loaded for leftover contents; takes samples of any contents found and runs the specified test. Loads only those vehicles whose contents are compatible with the fuel to be delivered. Puts the loading nozzle and equipment as specified, sets the meter, activates the power, and manually controls the delivery lever. Completes customer requisition, recording the amount of fuel delivered; applies a correction factor, and computes the cost of fuel loaded. Adheres to a strict quality control program by correctly identifying and storing all petroleum products, including waste oil. Draws samples from storage tanks of fuel to be submitted to the laboratory for analysis. Periodically, submits samples of packaged lubricants to laboratory reports. Maintains 2 B Wiley minimum water bottoms in storage tanks by gauging tanks daily, or as required by established procedures. Police storage areas daily, and keeps buildings, equipment, and tools clean. Controls vegetation growth in the storage areas. Reports on the maintenance of fences, signs, etc. It is necessary. Performs inspections of static storage tanks and Army-owned equipment for acceptable standards, etc. (e.g., proper labeling (place carding) of danger signs.) Makes an informal or formal report to the appropriate individual of deficiencies found and corrections needed. Performs miscellaneous tasks associated with fuel storage, receipt, and issue. Operates a 2,000 to 10,000-pound forklift in the performance of warehousing functions. Required to operate forklifts and vehicles (trucks) with a capacity of up to 15,000 pounds, from 1.5 to 5 tons, with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 33,000 pounds or more. Required to know proper Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on transfer pumps and mainline pumps. Having the ability to maintain and operate the pumps. Inspects storage facilities and equipment; makes visual checks for leaks in valves, gaskets, seals, pipes, and nozzles.
