As a member of the Crisis Intervention Response Team Outreach Team (CIRT-OT), the Certified Peer Specialist/Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS/CRS) provides outreach to individuals receiving crisis supports and, following assessment/intervention by the Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT), assists individuals by providing appropriate resources with the goal that the individual sees the crises in the context of a larger story of hope. The CPS plays an integral role in the interdisciplinary team including but not limited to providing continued engagement after a CIRT encounter, peer support, social determinants of health screening and referrals, community engagement, and linking individuals to other services to meet their immediate and long-term needs.
