  • Created the Recreational Therapy Department at Meadow Ridge Personal Care. Designed engaging, inclusive, creative activity programs suited for senior citizens. Activities were planned to offer spaces for people of varying physical and mental abilities to enjoy together by integrating inclusive design practices into the programs.
  • Inspired and empowered Residents to live a purposeful life by offering an array of activities based on personal preferences, innovative programs, and a menu of choices that included mental, spiritual, social, physical, global themed, cultural and recreational programs.
  • Supervised, motivated and encouraged a staff of three Recreational Therapy Assistants and two Recreational Therapy Pool Assistants to deliver outstanding opportunities, meaningful programs and services to 135 Residents within and outside the personal care facility.
  • Recruited, trained, and supervised volunteers and interns from the surrounding community, organizations, businesses, colleges, high schools and Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 high school intern programs. Instruction included awareness training about working with senior citizens, people with varying levels of mental and physical abilities and the benefits of Recreational Therapy for the well-being of Residents.
  • Planned monthly spending for activity supplies, entertainment and department needs according to the yearly budget. Completed financial reconciliation reports every month to reflect what was spent, which compared it to bank statements and invoices to reconcile accounts.

Hobbies

  • Painting- I have volunteered for many years painting murals and inviting children to help paint the murals at parks, swimming pools and schools. It is my way of giving back to society.
  • I am writing and illustrating a book of modern fables. I have an interest in ancient Chinese fables and how their wise advice transcends time.
  • Mindful Living-I have an interest in the daily Japanese practice of Ikigai which helps people live a healthier, more mindful, balanced way of living. Because of this, I walk 2 3/4 miles six days a week.
