I was tasked as one of three Key Operational personnel retained after the mill shutdown. They kept an electrical superintendent, fiberline superintendent (myself), and a paper machine superintendent. We organized items we needed to sell and tasked with day to day upkeep of all strategic equipment necessary to restart the mill in the event of a successful sale.
We came close to a sale, but it fell through and was sold to a real estate developer.
This was slated to happen on the Monday following the accident, The trnsition never happened, but I was involved as a primary contact in the investigation of the accident. I lost two good friends in the boiler explosion.
Worked up from daily pulp mill cleanup through to operational line of progression on our 'liquor side' operations.
Worked through, lime handler, three positions on the recovery boilers, kiln operator, recausticizing operator.
Was promoted to shift supervisor and worked as shift supervisor until our fiberline leader was disabled due to an off mill accident.
I successfully solved numerous operational problems that no one else was able to.
