Collaborated on Electronic Health Records Project to build a logistic regression model to classify hospitalization status of ~900,000 patients using their comorbidities, BMI, patient demographics, and clinical labs.
Conducted extensive data wrangling and text mining in R.
Feature engineered lab data into binary variables in order to train a LASSO penalized linear regression model on the data set.
Concluded that clinical labs data did improve model accuracy beyond demographics and comorbidities from 69.8% to 80.5% and that pregnancy related lab tests contributed the most predictive power.
Presented the project findings at a research symposium to Michigan Biostatistics Faculty and Staff.
