Elena Zerkin

• Lead patient care and thorough patient assessments.
• Ensure the safe transport of patients and administer appropriate medical treatment, including basic life support and pharmaceutical interventions.

EMT-B:

• Perform initial patient assessment and prehospital medical interventions within the scope of an EMT-B.
• Facilitate communication with outside agencies responding to the campus.

• Overhauled the organization structure and developed new training guidelines.
• Led monthly membership meetings and co-led bi-weekly executive board meetings.
• Met with the Chief of Police, Director of Emergency Management, and the URPD liaison on a regular basis.
• Helped establish mass casualty response protocols.

Membership Officer:

• Created a new application and interview process.

• Developed and initiated a bystander education program on campus, including free Stop the Bleed and CPR trainings.
• Wrote a grant proposal and obtained $8500 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) fund to place bleeding control kits in high-impact locations on campus.
• Recruit support of additional instructors and campus organizations.
• Instruct bystander education courses at the University of Richmond.
• Organize blood drives and communicate with the Red Cross and campus staff.

AEMT

Preceptor and Crew Chief:

• Train new EMTs as a field preceptor and Crew Chief.

• Facilitated squad communication between the board and the membership.

• Performed patient intake, vitals collection, lab work, and assisted the physicians on staff.
• Collaborated with online interpreters to provide culturally competent care to non-English speaking patients.

• Supervised children for 5-10 hours per week.
• Assisted with light housekeeping duties as well as running errands.
• Developed strong communication with parents to provide updates on children's needs.
