As a UAL 1 you learn the basics of line skills, also within your first year you get to be pretty hands on in this job. Climb poles , haul poles, get some work in the bucket.
Various things you get to do because of what the work consists of. Most importantly you get to work hard. Work in the rain, snow or shine.
Learned a lot of basic skills in being a UAL1, got to learn how to write up switching orders and how to switch electricity without being able to see it.
