I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was in second grade. When I began my education classes, one of the requirements was to take a Special Education class. This class and the fact that I had a younger sister with a Learning Disability made me realize that I needed to become a Special Education teacher. I needed to know how to help my young sister.
My 33 years in this field has been so rewarding. I feel that each year, I learned from all my students on how to be a better teacher.
I became a resilient Special Education Teacher who became familiar with challenges associated with teaching special needs children. I remained positive under times of stress or conflict. I learned to work well with classroom teachers to develop accommodations and special techniques for mainstream classroom inclusion.
I was born in Bolivia, South America. I came to this country in 1967 when I was 7 years old. I speak fluent Spanish.
