My job at Vulcan materials as a “plant operator”consist of more than just unloading rail cars. At Vulcan I have started to learn numerous amount of different skills. I am a very ambitious young man, whenever we are not unloading rail cars I am following my lead man or our maintenance guy around trying to better my skills and get more experience and tend to ask lots of questions trying to figure out how things work and why they work how they do. Given my previous experience as a Diesel PM tech I think taking a maintenance position at NUCOR steel and continuing my education about working on heavy machinery would not hurt and only open more opportunities from there. Below are a list of skills I have acquired.

• Followed plant safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Performed minor mechanical work and routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintained a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and conducting regular inspections.
• Operated and controlled locomotive, CAT 980H, CAT 972M and a Komatsu excavator equipment.
• Assisted in developing plant operation strategies that aligned with company goals.
• Trained new operators, ensuring they met all safety and operational standards.

As a Preventive Maintenance Technician, my job was to make sure that all of the heavy machinery and equipment was operating properly and efficiently. I also ensured that all of the fluids were at a safe level as well as inspected vehicles and machines very closely in search of any damage that has previously occurred and not been resolved or possibly even any damage occurring in the future. I would then proceed to write that information down on a checklist and inform the next mechanic who would receive the truck and resolve the issues I perceive. previously i was working at take 5 for about 6 months as a oil change tech.
