Under direction, develops plans for and makes changes in staff
assignment and in organization of work for assigned organizational
components such as maintaining order and security in assigned areas
or buildings, serving court processes, criminal identification, ballistics,
forensics, apprehension of violators of the law, patrol, training, motor
vehicle accident investigation, and criminal investigations to achieve
more effective operations within allowable guidelines and policies
established by higher levels of supervision; establishes performance
standards for subordinates; prepares and issues internal operating
instructions and procedures for the organizational component for
which responsible; makes independent decisions on problems which
occur during normal course of work; does other related assignments
and duties as determined by the appointing authority.

Under direction, supervises and works with personnel engaged in
performing work in one or more functions of a Sheriff's office in the
following areas: maintaining order and security in assigned areas
or buildings, serving court processes, criminal identification,
ballistics, investigations, apprehension of violators of the law;
forensics and other related organizational component assignments
which may include transportation and custody of detainees,
emergency management, and communications and dispatch
functions. As required by the operational needs of the jurisdiction
(County), may be assigned to supervise and/or perform other law
enforcement or public safety related duties outside the parameters
of a courtroom environment, which may include criminal investigations,
patrol duties, training, dispute intervention/resolution, public
safety/service assistance, traffic control and enforcement, motor
vehicle accident investigation, etc., and/or other related assignments
or duties as determined by the appointing authority.

Under direction, performs one or more functions in the following
areas: maintaining order and security in the courtroom, serving
court processes, criminal identification, ballistics, investigations,
apprehension of violators of the law; forensics and other related
assignments which may include Emergency Management.
As required by the operational needs of the jurisdiction
(County), may be assigned to perform other law
enforcement or public safety related duties outside the
parameters of a courtroom environment, which may
include criminal investigations, patrol duties, dispute
intervention/resolution, public safety/service assistance,
traffic control and enforcement, motor vehicle accidents,
etc., and/or other assignments as determined by the
appointing authority.

Under supervision during an assigned tour of duty within an adult county
correctional facility or institution, performs a wide variety of tasks in
support of the safety, security and welfare of inmates, facility personnel
and visitors; performs other related duties as required.
