I am Elisabeth Balog, a TEFL-certified university graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Applied and Public History from Appalachian State University. In May of 2024 following graduation, I moved to Thailand for 10 months and taught English at Kaen Nakhon Wittayalai School in the city of Khon Kaen. I taught children in Mathayom 1-4 (in American terms, grades 6-10) and was in charge of classroom control and grading as well as teaching the curriculum provided. I have also participated in various English camps throughout my time in Thailand which have helped me become more adaptable and ready to work with a variety of different people. Before teaching, I worked multiple customer service and retail positions and have gathered a variety of skills including organization and time management.
In addition to my year at Kaen Nakhon Wittayalai, I have had months of teaching practice while completing my practicum at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. I chose an in-person practicum because I wanted to have hands-on teaching experience working with students so that I could be as well prepared as possible. Over the course of four months, I attended classes twice a week as a teaching assistant, learning invaluable lessons about teaching that have prepared me well for my future in the field., Jason Payne, jason@foresthills.org
