LEADERSHIP ROLES:

  • As the thoracic surgical service lead RN in the Operating Room (OR), collaborates and prepares for all thoracic procedures, including robotic, ensuring safe and seamless procedures for surgical staff and surgical patients.
  • As part of the robotic team, collaborates with the robotic service lead and robotic surgeons to managing supplies, updates, and trainings. Scrubs and Circulates robotic procedures including: Colorectal, Thoracic, General and Urology cases. Comfortable with troubleshooting the robot.

Accomplishments

  • Streamlined Pre-operative care for Robotic Cholecystectomy patients by coordinating with pharmacy to supply the surgical admitting unit with IC Green (a standardized medication for the above procedure), so that patient's can receive this time sensitive IV dye in a timely manor, avoiding any surgical delays and increasing patient safety.
  • As Thoracic, RN Lead, assisted in bringing the first, fully robotic approach with the Ion and DaVinci robotic systems on June 14,2023. It was the first anesthetic diagnosis to treatment of lung cancer in the VA Northern California Health Care System. Her collaboration was interdisciplinary with Pulmonologist, Thoracic Surgeon, Intuitive Representatives, Sterile Processing (SPD), Interventional Radiology (IR), and Supply Chain Management to bring this success to VA Medical Center. leader in bringing the first, fully robotic approach with the Ion and DaVinci robotic systems on June 14,2023.   • Thoracic, Robotic Ion lung navigation patients seen at VA Martinez were unable to get their CT for the new Ion procedure done at VA Martinez. Collaborating with Interventional Radiology (IR) at Mather and Martinez VAs ended in Ion compactable CT. Now Veterans with lung cancer in the East Bay can receive their pre-operative CT at VA Martinez, creating ease during a stressful time.
  • As Chair of the Unit Base Councel (UBC) for RNs, conducted a research project aimed to reduce patient related cancellations by 10% with the implementation of real time pre-operative text alerts.
