    Key participant in research project "Synthesizing Antiviral Compounds through C-2 Modifications of Nucleosides"

• Worked with nucleosides ( guanosine) to synthesize new molecular entities to create more efficacious antiviral compounds.
• Protected the OH groups on guanosine through acetylation.
• Used techniques such as Thin Layer Chromatography and Column Chromatography.
• Used Stille Coupling reaction to make modifications at the C-2 position.
• Research was presented at the SURI symposium.

BARN OWLS RESEARCH 

    Key participant in research project on how barn owls are invasive species in Kauai, HI.

• Conducted isotope analysis on barn owls.
• Dissected barn owls and examined various parts.
• Examined owl pellet to determine the contents of the barn owl's diet.
• Determined the barn owl's age using UV light.
