Additional Information

I have been providing care to Sickle Cell patients for almost 10 years in different capacities. Prior to becoming a registered nurse I was a patient care technician on the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit. I worked on this unit through nursing school where I cared for many patients who have Sickle Cell Disease. As a new graduate nurse I worked on the NICU specifically in the Specialty Care Nursery, where the newborn screen were conducted and the education about Sickle Cell Disease began with the new parents.

In April 2023, I was honored to be selected to attend the Sickle Cell Boot Camp in Memphis, TN which was a train the trainer program through St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing, where I completed a certification in Implementation of Sickle Cell Boot Camp to Promote Nursing Excellence. After the completion of the Sickle Cell Boot Camp my manager has approved a newsletter to educate nursing staff on Sickle Cell Disease and its many challenges and complications.
