Elizabeth McGill

Current sophomore at Penn State University (Main Campus) with a declared major in Aerospace Engineering. An active member of NRL (Nittany Rocket Laboratory) and involved in the club's creation of a solid-powered rocket for the Spaceport America Cup. Well-versed in the process of manufacturing Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass tubes.

NRL at Penn State (Nittany Rocket Laboratory, 2023-Current)

• Active member and recently elected to a leadership role for Payload division
• Key contributions include the continuous design and manufacturing of the NRL's yearly competition rocket for the Spaceport America Cup, creating a Geiger counter, with the ability to detect Beta particles at 30,000 feet while under extreme G-forces for our competition rocket, designing a multiple camera array on our rocket for variable flight footage, and the creation of multiple Carbon fiber tubes, fins, and tail cones, as well as fiberglass body tubes.

Research Assistant at Penn State (Dynamic Stress research, Spring 2024)

• Assisted in the procedure and testing of carbon fiber manifold failures under extreme dynamic stress
• Helped in the manufacturing process and experimentation of diverse types of concrete mixtures under stress, as seen through a high-speed camera
