Current Research Work

In collaboration with the NIH Malaria Evolution in South Asia International Centers of Excellence for Malaria Research (MESA-ICEMR), my research focuses on studying host immune responses evoked by malaria antigens using bioinformatics, immunology, and computational tools. To do this, I am utilizing a wheat germ cell-free protein expression system to secure functional malaria ligands, probing these antigens with antibodies obtained from patient sera, and quantifying these interactions using the Bio-Plex Suspension Array System technology. The long-term goal is to exploit the mechanism of naturally acquired immunity in designing effective malaria vaccines which could be key to mitigating the global burden of malaria.
