My background in education and teaching began when I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from UMass Amherst in 2001. I decided to change my career direction and wanted to make a difference and so I chose education and teaching for my path. I began with substitute teaching while living in NH. When I moved to Boston I became a special education teacher at an outplacement school called The Clearway School in West Newton, MA. I worked with small clases of 5-10 students, taught and modified lessons in ELA and History. I leaned to develop and write IEP, run meetings and keep continuous contact with parents and guardians. After that, as my resume reflects, I worked my way up to classroom teacher. In 2016 my course in life changed again as I had twin sons. I decided to stay home with them for a few years and then had a few part time and office jobs. I am currently working 5 hours a few at the Monatiquot Kindergarten in Braintree. I am also an employee of Fasanos Marketplace. Although I have had jobs that do not include education or being in a school setting. I have not lost my passion for wanting to teach or just be in a school setting doing something meaningful. I still possess all the skills necessary to work in a school such as a positive and professional attitude, the ability to be flexible, organizational skills and a desire to be a positive influence on young people. I am still deciding if I would want to jump back into a full time special education teaching position or be a paraprofessional. I am well aware of the outside of school and in school commitment and hours that special education demands. I would just like to be considered for a position that is full time in a school and classroom setting.
