I currently work in this position, taking care of children from 0 to 12. Lots of the kids that I work with are disabled and have some form of special needs. This job has taught me not only patience but the love that I have for disabled children. This let to my future want to be a pediatric occupational therapist.
Two summers in a row, I worked with the Camp program. I worked as a leader, played games, and led enriching activities. I worked every weekday the first summer and the second summer changed to only working tuesdays and thursdays as the field trip counselor.
I worked for the summer as a camp counselor, while I also worked with a small group of children after camp as a science teacher.
I had lots of new experiences where I learned how to communicate effectively with parents and children. Where I also first experienced working with disabled children.
