Summary

I graduated Magna Cum Laude with BAs in both Applied Behavioral Science and Sociology, then earned my special education teaching credential here in Texas. I have the combined in classroom experience of over eight years between rolls of Para-educator, Substitute teacher and Special education teacher since 2016.

Through all this I develop a broad range of skills with several different special education programs and class types across multiple grade and severity levels. I have supported students with non-verbal autism, down syndrome, etc., in self-contained autism and life-skill classrooms to students in general education classrooms with inclusion and resource supports. I have assisted with feeding and toileting challenges as well.

I am further experienced with developing and implementing individualized education plans for students with diverse learning needs. Utilizes effective behavior management techniques to create positive and inclusive classroom environment. I have a strong track record of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support student success and development.

It is a firm belief of mine that it is my calling in life to help children who may struggle with feelings of self-worth due to their personal struggles, to help them gain confidence and reach a higher potential than they ever thought they could. I was once a student like this who, because of the generous amount of compassionate support I received, was able to become more than I thought was possible. I also have a teenage son with special needs. As such I have a unique perspective of what it is to be a special education student, a special needs mother, and a special needs teacher. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
