An Animal Care receptionist is an individual who works in a veterinary clinic or Care Center with basic knowledge of veterinary, grooming, sanitation and aseptic techniques, animal behavior and training, plus restraint procedures and techniques, communication and client relations, and front desk activities such as answering calls, welcoming clients and taking mails. Recording client information, consent forms and certificates, types of appointments, organization of scheduling appointments, keeping policies and procedures.
The job requires being comfortable in the presence of animals because you will be dealing with them on a daily basis and possibly a wide variety of animal clients; dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, ferrets, chinchillas, etc.
The job description of the receptionist who works in an animal care center/veterinary hospital involves providing accurate information to inquiries from clients and other members of the public. The receptionist must make it a priority to learn about all his/her clinic’s procedures.
