Substance Abuse Specialist with ten years of lived experience as both a homeless woman and a drug addict. Committed to helping clients understand emotional issues underlying substance use patterns as well as homelessness. Advocate of Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, and Housing First methods.
Uses low barrier, trauma informed care, and harm reduction techniques
Manages a caseload of 24 clients
Assists clients with substance use issues enroll in MAT programs, detox, and/or residential treatment
Monitors clients' progress and tracks client services to provide crisis interventions
Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions and crisis management to clients to lesses negative on physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing
Coordinate services with other agencies, community-based organizations, and healthcare professionals to provide useful benefits to clients
Assist clients with obtaining identification cards, social security cards, DPSS benefits in order to be document ready for housing navigation
Assist clients in navigating housing, legal services, and public benefits to gain access to valuable resources
Develop and implement comprehensive case management plans to address clients needs and goals
Coordinate individual referrals to obtain community services, advocate for client needs and resolve roadblocks
