Permit Technician
Processes applications for review and approval/disapproval by Permit Superintendent.
Schedules appointments for inspections and contractor examinations.
Processes, performs data entry, and issues licenses.
Checks zoning district maps and flood maps to determine proper zones for general public and to confirm permit information.
Prepares requisitions for department offices (Port Sulphur and Belle Chasse).
Prepares elevation certificates for customers and insurance companies. Ma[Js renewal notices annually; processes electrical/mechanical licenses. Prepares final certificates for signature of Superintendent
Releases utilities (water, gas, and electric) to appropriate utility company when authorized by
Building Inspector.
Takes driveway permits and culvert permits for Engineering Department
Draws plot plan for minor. permits if none is available with customer information. Enters information of all monies in computer.
Prepares and makes daily deposits of cash receipts.
Checks and balances change fund assigned to branch office.
Performs routine administrative / office tasks as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, sending and receiving faxes, entering and retrieving computer data, etc.
Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as application, plans, legal description, ownership papers, and fees.
Prepares and/or processes various records and reports such as application, plot plan, deposits, utility permits, and elevation certificates.
Refers to ownership papers, tax roll, zoning map, FEMA flood maps, code book, property dimensions, Assessor's tax books, IBC/lRC code books, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws/ regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
Operates a variety of office equipment and machinery such as computer, calculator, copier, printer, shredder, telephone, etc.
Uses a variety of supplies such as writing instruments, general office supplies, etc. a variety of
computer software such as Microsoft Word, Orracle, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Excel, etc.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Supervisor, contractors,
homeowners, Engineers, architects, elected officials, and the general public.
