Ella Hopkins

I am a highly motivated and perseverant student with an innate passion for learning. I also value community involvement through service, compassion, and philanthropy.

• I have pursued my passion for dance over the past fifteen years at Beckley Dance Theatre School. I have learned perseverance and determination through extensive training and professional performances. I have been honored to perform the lead role of Clara in our 2021 Nutcracker Season and the role of Lead Marzipan in the 2023 season.
• My hometown has established a very successful nonprofit community foundation with over 60 million dollars in assets. BAF is essential to the community success, and I have a passion for philanthropic involvement through BAF. I started my journey through SLYP which is a BAF Subcommittee that teaches local junior and senior high school students the importance and logistics of philanthropy. I recently served on the Community Grant Distribution Committee which reads, analyzes, and selects the allocation of grant funds to local nonprofits.
• Within school, I was inducted into National Honor Society in April of 2022 and in March of 2023 I was elected as President and I am still serving in this position today. I am a strong and compassionate leader for my cohort. I am also a member of Next Step, which is a program consisting of a select group of high achieving seniors who are paired with fail risk students to mentor and tutor them and help them achieve success.
• Outside of school, I am also an active community member. I participate in a read aloud group, reading to fourth grade students at a local elementary school every Friday afternoon. I also volunteer to fill and distribute orders for our local Toys for Tots distribution center. And I participate in our local branch of the Empty Bowls Charity, which is an organization that raises money to feed the underprivileged in our community.
