In the summer of 2023, I worked at the United Nations through the nonprofit Leadership Initiatives to help the State of Bauchi Nigeria. Life is not fair to those in Nigeria who live on less than five dollars a day.
Much of my summer was fighting for a mom in Nigeria who was struggling to provide for her family. I worked with a mother of four who has a small tailoring business; in which she did not know the basics of finances or marketing and advertising. I presented to the FBI, the Embassy of Israel, and Congress in Georgetown D.C., in the hope of securing a grant for one million naira to put towards her business. I succeeded in getting her the grant and was able to put additional money aside from the grant to help open a school in Bauchi as well. Now fifty-seven children who could not previously attend school, now can.
Currently, I am been working with the nonprofit, Leadership Initiatives for eight months to continue to show generosity to those in Nigeria.
