- To help exiting kindergarteners who will be entering your school in the fall as 1st graders, we have created a summer read aloud calendar and highlighted some simple activities that will help children enter even stronger
- We have included five books for each week, Monday -
- Friday
- Books include narrative stories, information stories (math, science and social studies) and books with social emotional themes that are appropriate for the age level
- Parents are invited to watch the books in any order and re-watch favorites as often as their child likes
- You can pass these calendars out at the end of the school year, use them during summer learning, post them on your website, or hand them out during summer events
- There are two ways for parents to access the stories: Click on the title of the book
- (electronic calendar) Scan the QR code with your phone or tablet
- (electronic or paper calendar)
- How to scan a QR code Open the Camera app from the Home screen, Control Center, or Lock screen
- Select the rear facing camera
- Hold your device so that the QR code appears in the viewfinder in the Camera app
- Tap the notification to open the link associated with the QR code
- We hope these calendars and activities give children entering 1st grade in your district a jump start
