  • Hello District Leaders
  • To help exiting kindergarteners who will be entering your school in the fall as 1st graders, we have created a summer read aloud calendar and highlighted some simple activities that will help children enter even stronger
  • We have included five books for each week, Monday -
  • Friday
  • Books include narrative stories, information stories (math, science and social studies) and books with social emotional themes that are appropriate for the age level
  • Parents are invited to watch the books in any order and re-watch favorites as often as their child likes
  • You can pass these calendars out at the end of the school year, use them during summer learning, post them on your website, or hand them out during summer events
  • There are two ways for parents to access the stories: Click on the title of the book
  • (electronic calendar) Scan the QR code with your phone or tablet
  • (electronic or paper calendar)
  • How to scan a QR code Open the Camera app from the Home screen, Control Center, or Lock screen
  • Select the rear facing camera
  • Hold your device so that the QR code appears in the viewfinder in the Camera app
  • Tap the notification to open the link associated with the QR code
  • We hope these calendars and activities give children entering 1st grade in your district a jump start
