Clerk to the Honorable John J. “Johnny” Lee at the First Parish Court of Louisiana
May-July 2025
Clerking for Judge Lee allowed me the opportunity to expand my communication, time
management, and organizational skills. From dressing in appropriate attire for court to
producing the court docket each day, I gain invaluable experience not only about the field
of law, but also how to be an efficient worker in the office. In the courtroom, I have had
the opportunity to open my ears to the stories of the herds of residents who visit the
courtroom each day, teaching me that listening and understanding the person in front of
you is a crucial part of each human interaction.
Law Intern at Capitelli & Wicker Attorneys at Law in New Orleans, LA
July-August 2025
The past month, I have worked in the law office of Mr. Ralph Capitelli, a white collar
criminal defense name partner at Capitelli & Wicker. Aiding Mr. Capitelli and the other
partners in case preparation, I have worked on filing documents, arranging court papers,
etc. Other times in the office, I can be found sitting in on attorney-client meetings to
record meeting notes or drafting case memorandums. My experience here has taught me
how to be highly specific about documentation, how to work more collaboratively in a
team setting, and how to tackle obstacles on my own, knowing that help is always
available when needed.
Mayo Clinic Research Internship in Cardiac Electrophysiology
July 2024: 4 weeks; 50 hours/week
I had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Duy Nguyen, M.D., a cardiologist, and Mr. Jason Tri, PhD, the director
of cardiovascular disease research, to conduct research in the innovative practice of pulse
field ablation (PFA), a novel and less invasive form of ablation that uses short bursts of
electrical currents to more effectively treat patients with atrial fibrillation (irregular heart
beat). Using catheters to gain access to the heart and the electrical generator to send the
bursts of energy, we conducted multiple trials of PFA on full-grown male and female pigs in
a fitted surgical suite. Later, we extracted the heart to observe the lesion marks and
determined the success of the treatment. The goal of the research is to ascertain that PFA is
suitable to conduct on human patients.
Mayo Clinic Clinical Internship in Dermatology
July 2024: 4 weeks;10 hours/week
As an intern in the clinic of Dr. Giang Nguyen, H., M.D., PhD., I gained valuable knowledge and
observation of extremely rare skin and hair conditions. I shadowed Dr. Nguyen during
patient visits and clinical procedures, such as biopsies and laser surgeries. With the
guidance of Dr. Nguyen, I wrote an abstract detailing a highly rare disease known in its most
common state as “baboon syndrome,” a drug reaction, that we observed in clinic.
