When I was initially hired as a PT tech my responsibilities were simple but have developed extensively over the years. I started by moving patients to and from appointments with different equipment and teams. That is still my main job title and responsibility but I have taken on much more of the years. I have trained new hires on the job, I have taken over the yearly compliance trainings for all Radiology staff by working with each Rad Tech to check off their competency, and have involved myself in being present with my managers and vendors. I am constantly involved in decisions for what's best for the department in relations to Safe Patient Handling, and what's best for our patient care and needs. I am always first to respond to emergencies and high pressure situations by maintaining and assessing situations and responding accordingly. I have also expanded my level of expertise beyond just Radiology by starting a movement within my department that now expands to servicing the ER and working with techs and doctors within that department. I've spent the last 6 years trying to evolve my department and the people I work, and trying to avoid growing stagnant in what we do. I believe we can always do better.
