- Educate healthcare workers, patients, and the public about infectious and communicable diseases, including disease transmission and prevention.
- Investigate diseases or parasites to determine cause and risk factors, progress, life cycle, or mode of transmission.
- Assist in the implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of communicable diseases.
- Perform investigations, data collection and analysis, and interpretation. As well as, reporting and surveillance activities
- Prepare documentation of all communicable disease case investigations occurring within the district.
- Provide case management services, eg home visits, clinic referrals, patient education/counseling to clients with various communicable diseases such as sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, pertussis, rubella, hepatitis, and COVID-19
- Provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic services for public health clients both in the clinic and field setting.
- Provide educational programs, seminars and in-service training sessions to enhance public understanding of various communicable diseases.
- Apply accepted health strategies to include mindful listening, open-ended inquiry, motivational interviewing, identifying/creating goals, identifying strengths/motivators, and facilitation of wellness vision.
- Participate in conference and seminar discussions on health promotion, population health and worksite wellness support programs.
- Serve as primary translator (Spanish) which allows for the WCHD to effectively provide services to clients with language barriers.
- Translate foreign shot records and all necessary forms necessary to ensure that clients feel comfortable in an inclusive environment.
- Effectively utilized skills as a Communicable Disease Specialist for Contact Tracing of COVID-19 Exposures. Ensuring that all contacts were made aware of exposure and facilitated pathway to testing. Further, educated clients of S/S, risk factors and risk reduction methods to slow spread of COVID-19.
- Ensuring that all STD/HIV Program Deliverables are met and/or exceeded annually to ensure continuous compliance with grant demands.
