Work History

Crop Consultant

Glades Crop Care Inc.
09.2023 - 04.2025
  • I would explore client fields and take down data in formal reports with a collaborative team, showing proficiency in multitasking.
  • Constant communication was a need, building employee-client relationships through calls and emails involving their farms/fields, and I was able to create those close bridges with clients I worked for.
  • I have experience in working with lettuce, cabbage, citrus (oranges, lemons, grapefruit, etc.), tomatoes, peppers, field and sweet corn, snap beans, black-eyed peas, peanuts, radish, watermelons, pumpkins, squash, zucchini, and rice.
  • I assisted in the lettuce, radish, and corn scouting techniques, tackling the impending issues that pests would create, being major issues within the cultivation of said crops.
  • I became familiar with all the equipment used on client's farms from tillers to sprayers, including unique AI technology clients used in order to detect weeds to spray when densities were high. I am familiar with FarmDog (transferred to FarmQA this year), Microsoft programs, and LazerWeeder ( an AI high tech program) that allowed me to do daily tasks for the company.
  • I would draft up reports for my clients so they may be educated in what further steps they should take to ensure their crops health. These were often overlooked by higher ups to ensure proper formatting before sent over to clients.
  • Since I worked in lettuce a majority of my time in the company, I would often be tasked with collecting samples of plants that appeared ill but the cause was unknown. Said plants I would transport to the E.R.E.C. ( Everglades Research and Education Center) for further testing.
  • I can identify a plethora of diseases and pests that afflict crops (listed in third bullet point) through the meticulous training the company had provided, along with my own personal studies over relevant materials, including scholarly papers written in current times.
  • Assisted in helping train new interns that were introduced into the company, to help them learn the techniques we use for scouting the fields, how to write up report drafts, and how to identify common problems within the crops our clients grew.
  • I also like to stay on top of current agricultural trends, attending workshops to keep on top of my CEUs, seminars relevant to future improvements to the agriculture fields, and attending programs in order to compare our company's practices to others and what we can do to improve our own.

Lab Assistant

University of Georgia - Agriculture Branch
08.2021 - 03.2023
  • As an assistant, I would do a good bit of the physical experiment part for UGA graduate students while they were busy attending to their papers that they would need for their Academic Proposals.
  • I became familiar with lab work; including but not limited to sampling food specimens, running PCR on said specimens, extracting DNA to be later used, testing for sugar levels, acidity and alkalinity, aroma levels, the pressure (in PSI) a specimen could withstand, color, and being able to take all this data and use it to whatever capacity the graduate student needs for their projects.
  • I used Microsoft Word and Excel almost exclusively while being an assistant which helped really hone in on perfecting all the tricks inside said programs.
  • Learned how to participate in O3 (ozone) testing and how to properly manage the O3 chambers properly and safely, how to operate the timing of releasing the O3 gases, and recording how the specimens react in the chambers over days and weeks of observation.
  • I helped the senior assistant keeping inventory over all the specimen in the laboratory, whether it was stored in the cooling chambers, the O3 chambers, or in the drying ovens, it was important to keep tabs on where everything was so nothing would get lost.
  • I had to learn to be flexible with my work as every day was a new and ever-changing environment, especially if something gets finished then there is always something else needing to be done so it was necessary to be able to do quick turn-around within the lab.
  • When it came to new herbicides that could be tested, I would assist in the herbicide testing in order to oversee the efficacy of it on weeds and seeing if it could show any benefit to post-harvest crops.
  • I helped keep organization over the testing documents, making sure everything was filed properly and keeping others updated on progress being made.
  • I also helped with cleanliness, keeping up with proper PPE and assuring that others within the lab also follow such protocols to keep the lab safe and up to code.

Intern

Georgia Department of Agriculture
05.2022 - 08.2022
  • I was a main support among the staff within office, helping with reducing workload burden so my superiors can focus on more high-priority assignments, which usually included drafting up reports for clients and doing the physical scouting in field.
  • Organizing and sorting files relevant for work and making sure they were within easy access in case review was necessary.
  • I focused a lot of Excel, taking care of spreadsheet organization and input of data collected by superiors.
  • I learned to properly multitask through this position as I was tasked to compile information while also speaking with superiors in the same instances, needing to do such efficiently and quickly.
  • Preparing and fixing up presentations for my superiors, doing quality assurance to make sure all of the information presented is factual and inline with what the topic is about. One of the presentations was about citrus diseases, how to properly identify them, treatment, and how to try to prevent these diseases from spreading to more trees in the grove.
