ACTIVITIES

  • I am passionate about my career in education. I enjoy working with students and helping them grow while discovering their passions and purpose in life. Collaborating with colleagues is also an important strength that I bring to my work. Throughout my years at Oakes, I have learned about learner agency and how to apply it in my own life, my students’ lives, and my classroom. While I am still learning and continually refining my practice, the strategies I have implemented have proven effective. Additionally, I have actively participated in our journey toward Personalized Competency-Based Learning through KnowledgeWorks and have brought that learning back to our school to support colleagues in implementing these practices and fostering meaningful change for students.
  • I coached elementary volleyball for four years at Oakes Public Schools. The skills I have developed in the classroom have helped me become a more effective coach on the court. Through building positive relationships, I earned the trust and respect of my players while helping them develop both their volleyball skills and confidence.
  • When I am not at school, I stay busy with my four children and helping on our family farm. I enjoy staying active, as well as cooking, baking, and reading. My children have taught me the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone, embracing new experiences, and continuing to learn and grow. These lessons have helped shape both my personal life and my approach as an educator.
