Emily Polo Rankin

Member of plant engineering at the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) at the Hanford Site, managed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Part of rotational engineer program to gain experience in different disciplines and organizations within the WTP to expand knowledge and skillset.

• First and second rotations with Process Systems, working as system engineer on Glass Forming Reagent (GFR) system. Involved in troubleshooting system issues, system redesign, and plant commissioning.
• Second rotation includes experience with Regulatory Compliance, with a focus of reliability centered maintenance. Working with lubrication and mechanical vibration subject matter expert. Projects include development of equipment preservation programs and cathodic protection procedures.
• Third rotation with Flowsheet Integration group with focus in process chemistry.

• Member of engineering team in the consumables R&D division, focusing on stick electrode production support. Experience in fast-paced manufacturing setting and lab settings. From January-May 2022.
• Member of corporate EHS industrial hygiene group, focusing on qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments of production operations. From May-August 2022.
